We arrived in BANGKOK, a tropical metropolis and one of the hottest worldwide! As we are used to “Nepali temperature”, we were really knocked out by the intense heat and humidity on the first day- especially as we arrived just in time during the hottest month of the year. 🙂

First thing we really appreciated here in Thailand was a decent, comfortable bed in a nice hotel after many weeks..We stayed in Sukhumvit and discovered the city in many ways- took taxis, tuk-tuks, skytrains and boats along Chao Phraya river. Very easy to get from A to B with a bit of bargaining. The main sights as the Grand Temple, Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho temple at Bangkok’s “Old City” were truly beautiful. On Sunday we spent the day at Chatuchak Weekend market- with 8.000 stalls it is the largest in Southeast Asia. And this place is huge! We really got lost..you can buy anything you could ever imagine from clothes, handicrafts, food, all kinds of snakes, fish, birds, rabbits etc..sometimes under real bad conditions. During night time we strolled through Bangkok’s night markets and also had a glimpse at the famous/ infamous nightlife strip “Patpong” full of go-go bars and ping pong bars (the latter with women on stage blowing all kind of objects from between their legs..also ping pong balls..very weird!!)

We also met up with Peppy, Martina’s old Thai friend, as we both studied together 11 years ago in London. She and her nice husband Tee took us to their favourite evening spot called Samsahara – a beautiful open air place right at the riverbank..thank you! As a last stop before leaving Bangkok next early morning, we went for a Good-Bye drink to Banyan Tree’s rooftop bar. And yes- what a stunning 360 degree view of Bangkok at night time!!
