This post originally held a Google map showing where we had got to so far. Google retired that kind of map years ago and the original is gone.

It has been replaced by something better than the one that was lost: the whole route, rebuilt from the GPS coordinates stored inside the photographs themselves — the actual places the camera was standing, in the order we stood there. You can find it on the front page.
